The Wonderful World Of Deep Sea Fishing

Ever dream of catching a fish even larger than you? You can make this dream a reality but you need to head where the creatures dwell. These creatures are usually found and caught while deep-sea fishing where the likely-hood of catching an enormous fish is much more likely. All you need is to have a fishing boat, a tough fishing rod, and nerves of steel. Make no mistake bringing these fish in is not easy but the sense of accomplishment you get when you are successful is well worth the time and expense.

For best results you may wish to enlist an experienced captain and a well known charter. There is a wondrous variety of life under the sea and an experienced captain can help you best find game fish. A well known tour makes it easier to get inside information about the particulars of the trip that boat offers. Although the eventual battle between man and game fish can be exhausting the time you spend watching the waves and soaking up the sun can be quite relaxing. It may be advisable to research which boat you want to charter. Different boats offer a variety of services some of which may add enjoyment to your trip. Some of these services include a full bar, fresh sushi preparation and sea food service. Although in most cases fishing is a classic bonding tool between parents and children deep-sea fishing is really not advisable for smaller children. Long times away from shore, limited luxuries and excessive amounts of sun are all good reasons to leave the young ones at home. However it may be a nice opportunity for parents to spend time with teenagers. Teenagers are likely to view this as an exciting and 'adult' activity that is not mundane.

Migrane

Although deep-sea fishing is meant to be a break from the ordinary and a leisure activity some preparation is a good idea. Remember that you will be exposed to large amounts of direct sunlight, so supplies like sun block are a must. Also for those who are prone to migranes bringing the appropriate medicine just makes sense. Many boat captains like to exploit as many revenue sources and may not allow outside food or drink so be prepared and ask in advance. The standard safety supplies like life-jackets are usually provided by the boating service.

The Wonderful World Of Deep Sea Fishing

Besides the essentials you may wish to inquire what equipment is provided and which isn't. Although under almost every circumstance a boat will be able to provide a rod it may cost a pretty penny, money which may not need to be spent if you already own the equipment. Also some fishing boats target different game fish which is something you may also wish to know in advance. Certain types of deep-sea fish are significantly more difficult to reel-in than others so you may wish to take your individual skill level into consideration when deciding which boat to charter.

Although deap-sea fishing can be an exciting enterprise there is a lot to consider. A little research in advance can save a lot of heartache and really enhance your trip dramatically.

Important Details You Need to Know About Lyme Disease Symptoms

Lyme disease presents a number of symptoms, some of which may be not specific. The symptoms are divided according to 3 stages: the early localized infection, the early disseminated infection, and the late persistent infection.

Lyme disease, a condition caused by a bacteria of the genus Borrelia that is transmitted by tick bites, presents multiple symptoms because it affects different areas of the body while it progresses. Early identification is vital if you want to be cured of this disease. If left untreated, the condition may evolve into much more serious neurological problems, so immediate medical care must be given. Be familiar with the following different symptoms of the disease:

Migrane

Stage 1: early localized infection

Important Details You Need to Know About Lyme Disease Symptoms

During stage 1, the usual noticeable sign of an early local infection is the presence of erythema chronicum migrans, which is a circular rash found on the site about 3-30 days after the bite. Erythema means redness and appears as a rash that is reddish and is usually warm. The rash may be painless. In most cases, the outer portions remain reddish while the central part becomes dark red and indurated. This classic sign is said to occur in about 80% of cases. Also noted during this stage are flu-like symptoms like headache, body malaise, fever, and muscle cramps. In some cases, the disease may progress into the next stage without the appearance of the rash.

Stage 2: early disseminated infection

In stage 2, the bacteria may begin to migrate and spread through the bloodstream within days to weeks after the appearance of the rash. The classic rash may appear on areas of the body far away from the tick bite site. Patients may complain of symptoms like migrating joint and muscle pains, palpitations, and vertigo due to fluctuations in heartbeat rate. It is also in this stage where neurological problems may start to arise. These include facial paralysis, meningitis, and radiculoneuritis. Memory loss and disturbance in sleeping patterns may result in mild encephalitis. Mood swings may be also noted.

Stage 3: late persistent infection

If continuously left untreated for several months, the disease may progress into stage 3. In worst cases, Paraplegia or impairment of motor or sensory functions of the lower extremities may be reported. Chronic neurological complaints may also be noted. Polyneuropathy with shooting pains, numbness, and tingling of the extremities may be present as well. Chronic encephalomyelitis may develop too and causes cognitive impairment, weakness in the legs which may result in an awkward gait and motion, bladder disorders, and back pains. In extremely rare case, the disease may also result in frank psychosis. Other symptoms noted are anxiety, panic attacks, somatoform and other delusional behaviors. The patient then eventually gets out of touch with reality.

It should also be noted that in places where the disease is endemic, the risk of acquiring the disease may only be as low as 1% to 3%. Most cases of the disease are reported during the summer time. Places in the US where this disease is reported are in the Northeastern US and include the New England area, the great lakes region. The northern Pacific coast region is another place where the disease is often reported.

Ankylostomiasis Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Ankylostomiasis is the medical name for the Hookworm, a parasitic nematode that creates its home in the small intestine of its host. Generally, mammals experience this with humans, dogs and cats being affected mostly. The parasite is mostly found in North Africa, Middle East and India. It is also found in southern Europe. They are also found in areas where people defecate on the ground, which makes the soil moister and therefore more prone to be a breeding ground for the larvae.

The most common cause of the disease is walking bare feet on contaminated soil. When the larvae of the hookworm penetrate the skin, it may cause an allergic reaction. Once the larvae enters the skin, it goes into the bloodstream and into the lungs. If the larvae cannot complete this process, they settle below the skin and create marks that are quite similar to snake bites. These marks are known as cutaneous larva migrans or creeping eruption.

Migrane

Ankylostomiasis is caused when the hookworms suck the blood from the host's intestinal walls and cause an iron deficiency anemia. In human beings, the symptoms of Ankylostomosis are abdominal pains, anemia, diarrhea, malnutrition and in some extreme cases, bleeding of the intestinal wall. The other symptoms are signs of anemia, pallor, bradycardia and the person feel tired quite easily. Some may even experience retardation of mental and physical development, while others might have acute gastrointestinal and pulmonary reactions. Some might even have pneumonia.

Ankylostomiasis Causes, Symptoms and Treatment

Ancylostomiasis is treated with mebendazole. This drug is quite inexpensive and most cases would require only a single dose. Apart from this drug, the patient should also be given dietary supplements that will increase the chances of getting better faster and have a positive impact on their health too. The most important in this case is the supplementation of iron in the body. The person may require an iron enhanced diet for either a few weeks or many months, it depends on the amount of larvae that exist in the body. The simplest way to cure this medical issue is by bettering the sanitary conditions in the area, and increase the hygiene on a personal level. While hookworm is curable, it still is the cause of around fifty to sixty thousand deaths each year in countries where medical facilities are not available easily.

Apart from Ankylostomiasis, Hookworm also causes creeping eruptions, which are very painful and irritable for the patient. The creeping eruptions are very itchy on the surface. These creeping eruptions can also be caused due to the infection from other hookworms, like dogs and cats. This happens because thought he larva from the foreign bodies have migrated into the body, they cannot complete the migration process, and hence end up as creeping eruptions on the skin. This can be controlled with the ointment called thiabendazole.

The other medicines that are useful for Ankylostomiasis are mebendazole, albendazole, pyrantel, tetracholoroethylene, and bephenium hydroxynaphthoate.

Zoonotic Diseases caused by your Pet's Worms

A zoonotic disease, loosely defined, is a disease that can be transmitted from
an animal to a human. These diseases can be transmitted by direct contact, by vectors
or by the consumption of animals and/or animal products.

While many animal diseases are zoonotic, we are going to
highlight some of the more common ones caused by worms.

Migrane

A) Hookworm (Ancylostoma caninum)

Zoonotic Diseases caused by your Pet's Worms

These are distributed worldwide and are
found wherever dogs live.

In dogs they can cause anaemia(bloodloss), weight loss, loss of appetite,
poor growth, bloody stools, coughing and localised skin inflammation,
especially of the feet, legs and abdomen.

In humans they are responsible for a condition known as Cutaneous Larval Migrans.
The migration of the larval stages causes localised skin inflammation,
especially in the lower leg region

Preventative measures include:

1) Regular removal of dog faeces from the environment and avoiding contact
with dog faeces and soil contaminated with dog faeces.

2) Disinfection of Kennels etc

3) Regular Deworming (pets and people!)

4) Basic Hygiene - washing hands after playing with dogs, before meals etc.

B) Roundworm (Toxocara canis) are also distributed worldwide.

Usually only dogs up to about 8 months old are infected.
Symptoms include poor growth, weight loss, pot bellied appearance, coughing, occasional
vomiting, slimey diarrhoea with worms sometimes visible.

In humans they are responsible for a condition known as Visceral larval Migrans. The larvae
migrate through the body and the symptoms experienced by the person depend on where the
larvae end up in the body.Common symptoms include a fever, muscle pains, coughing, loss
of appetite, blindness (usually only one eye) etc.

Prevention is the same as for hookworm.

C) Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis is one of the best known of the zoonotic diseases that involve pets
and is the disease that leads many pregnant women to (unfairly) toss the pet cat
out the door!

Although cats play a major role in the life cycle of Toxopllasma gondii, the causative organism,
humans can in fact become infected 3 different ways, only one of which is direct contact
with cat faeces. In fact, cat ownership is not a big factor for human infection with Toxoplasma.

The three ways that humans can become infected:

1) Eating undercooked meat

This is THE major route of infection for humans, NOT contact with cat faeces.
In one study , up to 60% of infections were as the result of the consumption of undercooked
meat.

2) Transplacental Infection

The foetus is infected while still in the uterus. This infection is the result
of the mother becoming infected during pregnancy.

3) Ingestion of the organism shed in cat faeces.

Preventative measures thus involve cooking meat properly, wearing gloves when gardening,
washing hands and utensils after working with raw meat and cleaning litter trays out daily.

Zoonotic diseases are a real threat to humans, but in most cases a little common sense and basic
hygiene practices will prevent you becoming infected with any of these diseases.

Headaches and High Blood Pressure

Just because you get a headache doesn't mean that you have high blood pressure. Headaches CAN be an indication of very high blood pressure, but more often that not, a headache is just a headache. Take an aspirin or a Tylenol and move on. Hypertension isn't called "the silent killer" for no reason. There are no symptoms that you or anybody else would recognize as symptoms of high blood pressure.

If you or someone you love is having a SEVERE headache, blurred vision, and nausea all at the same time, you should without any hesitation, get to a doctor or an emergency room. Those symptoms could indicate a blood pressure that is high enough to cause a heart attack or a stroke, or worse.

Migrane

However, most people discover that their blood pressure is elevated in one of two ways: (1) they go to their doctor for some other problem and the nurse finds the readings high. He or she reports the finding to the doctor, who then reports the finding to the patient; or (2) they wake up in the emergency room after they have had a heart attack or a stroke without having experienced any symptoms at all.

Headaches and High Blood Pressure

Readings that are 140 (systolic) and 90 (diastolic) indicates hypertension. Now, just having ONE reading at that level is NOT an indication that you have hypertension. Blood pressure fluctuates all the time. Immediately after you have done strenuous exercise, your blood pressure will be higher. If you are suddenly stressed or frightened, your blood pressure will rise.

However, several readings at various times that are consistently as high as 140/90 or higher do indicate that you have high blood pressure -- with or without a headache.
